Well, call me a sucker for Pixar. I went tonight to the 3D showing of Pixar's latest film, "UP." It was simply wonderful! The details and color were great, but the story line was even better!
This is one of Pixar's best films. This wasn't like most Pixar films, where they predominately aim it at the younger audience, but rather they did a splendid job at blending the storyline for both adults, and children.
The first 12-15 minutes were amazing. They show you a "story w/in a story" which explains why "Carl" the grumpy old man....is grumpy. Love and death are all part of the picture. From the reviews, this part can be a tear jerker. Be prepared.
The little boy named Russell, was quite the opposite of Carl. He was cheery, and quite lively. You enjoy his character because he doesn't come off as the typical annoying, mis-behaving child, but rather just the opposite. Russell is one who wants to help "the elderly" to earn his badge, but is also willing to go further and do the "right" thing as you'll see later on.
The other main character is a lovable little golden dog, named "Dug." Dug is hilarious. He not the smartest dog, but easily makes up for that with his gigantic, gentle, loving heart. He sets aside the norms, and greatly helps develop the story line as well.
The bad guy...is sinister, and evil. You'll see.
To wrap it up, it seemed to me that this movie had several story lines going at one time...a hard feat, especially since they could be distracting. But it wasn't. Together they form beautiful pictures, pictures of: love, loyalty and new beginnings.
It is by far the BEST film of 2009. Not only is this "kid friendly" but adults will absolutely LOVE this film as well!
Want to know if Gov. Sarah Palin is a good mother? Want to know if she raised her kids well?
Here's a clue: This is a shot of Piper Palin, Sarah's youngest daughter, holding baby Trig (who has Down Syndrome) during Sarah's speech. Folks this is unscripted...this is Piper Palin.
